The Caring by Giving Foundation did not begin as a simple project. It grew from lived experience, memory and a calling I could no longer ignore. It came from a need to honor the lessons life has taught me; sometimes through hardship, but always with hope.
My mother was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo under tragic circumstances. After her mother passed away in childbirth, as an infant she was cared for in an orphanage run by American missionaries, where she was nurtured with compassion and kindness. In time, she reunited with her father, grew up, married, and became a devoted mother to eight children, including me.
This legacy has always been a part of me. But beyond painful memories, it also showed me the urgency to act. Years later, when my sister suddenly found herself raising her children alone after the loss of her husband, I was reminded again of how fragile life can be, and how powerful love and resilience truly are. Her strength and devotion reflected my mother’s story. Both women, marked by loss, are true examples and symbols of real strength, expressing love to those around them through their support and compassion.
And that’s when a dream became a mission. With the steady encouragement of my family, who shared my belief in the power of compassion, I found the strength to bring my vision to life. What began as a personal conviction grew into a foundation dedicated to restoring dignity, hope, and opportunity to those most in need: the Caring by Giving Foundation.
Our foundation is rooted in these stories. It carries with it the conviction that every orphaned or abandoned child can reintegrate, that no woman should face hardship alone, and that a better future is possible where we choose to love by giving.
